He was born to William and Isabella Gardiner on March 8, 1928 in Detroit, MI. Benjamin served his country proudly during WWII and the Korean Conflict for the United States Air Force. He was a supervisor for Sandia National Labs and retired after 37 years of service. Benjamin was a member of the BPOE # 461 and he was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for 37 years. Benjamin will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. His love and compassion will never be forgotten. He is survived by his loving wife for over 58 years, Vera Mae Gardiner; their children: two daughters, Nancy E. McHugh and Amy Hartle and husband, Richard; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Arthur Gardiner and his wife, Marian. Benjamin was preceded in death by his one son, Todd William Gardiner; and one brother, Robert Gardiner. Friends may visit Friday, November 21, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, Claremont and Vermont Streets NE. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Benjamin to a charity of your choice.
