He was "of Banford House", Gilford, Co. Down. His wife's parents were "of Dublin".
Ltrs, pg 214, 28th of 8th mo, 1831, in speaking of Aunt Ruth Uprichard Sinton, "Her niece Anna Maria Uprichard was married last fifth day to a nephew of Abraham Bell's of New York..." [these dates do not look right for the mother of Edith and Hannah, another Anna Maria Uprichard?]

Of his second marriage, DMS says only, "Had a son - Thomas fell from window as a baby and was hurt, and a daughter - Peggy?"

Banford House is located in the townland of Knockagore, Co. Down, about one mile south east of Gilford, on the Gilford to Banbridge Road. Whitelands is located on the same road opposite Banford House.
