 Birth Certificate of James Sinton - 26 January 1872
The family were living at 162 Boden Street, Glasgow at the time of the 1901 census, but because the S of Sinton was interpreted as an L, a search for Sinton returns nil. GROS are aware and will rectify the mistake. [RFSS 12 Nov 2002] The above record has now been corrected by GROS. [RFSS Jun 2006] A check on the 1891 census for James Sinton in Glasgow returns nil, so it would appear that he did not go to Scotland until after this date. [RFSS Jan 2004] He is buried in Cadder Cemetery, Lanarkshire in plot number 1299. From his headstone he spent 31 years as a joiner in the Signal Department of the North British Railway. This would place him in Scotland around 1892, aged 20, and possibly this was his only employer. The North British Railway was a Scottish railway company that was absorbed into the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923. It operated services between Waverley station, Edinburgh and Queen Street station in Glasgow. Boden Street, Glasgow where five of the first six children were born still exists but there are nolonger any houses. The street is now occupied by a number of industrial units.
