(Dick) Collins, who made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Slattery, at 1305 Wagner Avenue, died Sunday at Rockford Memorial hospital, where he had been a patient since Jan. 22. Mr. Collins was 69 years old. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the McAllister-Julian-Poorman funeral home, 304 North 5th Street, with Dr. John Gordon, pastor of Second Congregational church, officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Bluff cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock this evening. Mr. Collins, who had lived in Rockford most of his life, was a widely known businessman, who for 20 years was owner of the Rockford Leather Washer company. Later he was in the real estate business, until forced to retire because of poor health. He was a member of the Masonic and Elks lodges. Mr. Collins was born May 28, 1876, near Harvard, the son of the late Henry and Matilda Collins. He came to Rockford as a young man and lived here the rest of his life, except for three years spent in Winnipeg. Canada. On May 27, 1897, he was married to Nettie Woods of Oregon, who preceded him in death 11 months ago. Surviving Mr. Collins are two daughters, Mrs. Pearle Gordon of Belvidere, and Mrs. Bernice Slattery, Rockford: a son Everett Collins, Rockford, and two granddaughters.
