GENERAL NOTES
Quaker. Never married.

Transcript of part of a letter written by James Sinton to Walter Lyon Sinton on 21 February 1905.

"It gave me great pleasure to receive a letter from you, and all the more so when it informs me of the lot of Sintons you have met with in Colorado. It is certainly very interesting to both them and you to be able to trace their & your ancestral line so far back as the year 1700.

I never knew till I read your letter the names of my great & your great great grandparents. Benjamin and Dinah Sinton were their names Dinahs maiden name was McConnell. I think they lived formerly in Unchinagh, but died at Ash Trees. They had 5 children named Isabella, James, David, John, & Benjamin.

Aunt Isabella was married to Isaac Bell of Cornascrebe, Uncle James was married to Mary McVey, they had 6 children named David, Mary Anne, Isabella, Benjamin, James, & Eliza.

David lives in Unchinagh is a widower and has one child. Mary Anne lives near Unchinagh is married but no children. Isabella was married had two children and is dead. The other three went to America 40 or 50 years ago but I dont know what part they went to, nor do I know whether they are living or dead.

Uncle David was your grandfather so I need not speak of him as you know his descendants.

Uncle John lived at Ash Trees, was married to Anne Jeffers had two children as you know, Joseph & John, they are in America, I think in a place called New Jersey. They were married to two sisters called Tully.

Joseph has a large family some of whom are married. John has two children called Dinah and Jacob.

My father Benjamin Sinton lived at Ash Trees was married to my mother, maiden name Sophia Irwin. They had 4 children, named Isabella, John, James, (who is myself) and Jane.

Isabella as you know was married to Benjamin Bell of Dromart. John was married to Mary Wright, they have 5 children named Mabel, Thomas, William, John Benjamin, & James Alfred aged respectively, 18, 15, 10, 7, & 3." (SIC)
