Josephine Williamson Sinton Cartledge, 96 DOVER - Josephine Williamson Sinton Cartledge of Dover, formerly of Drexel Hill, Pa., and Upper Darby, Pa., died Monday, Dec. 4, 1995 in Silver Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dover. She was 96. Mrs. Cartledge was born in Loughall, Armagh, Northern Ireland, the daughter of the late John Williamson and Hetty Allen Williamson. She was a homemaker, farmer, and home-care nurse. She moved from Northern Ireland to the United States in 1954. She was a former member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church, Drexel Hill, Pa., and attended the Hamorton United Methodist Church, Hamorton, Pa. She was a former member of the Kennett Area Senior Center and the Senior Center located in the Riverside Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed making quilts, especially for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick J. Sinton, in 1953, and her second husband, Joseph H. Cartledge, in 1962. She is survived by three sons, John F. Sinton of San Diego, Theodore W. Sinton of Isle of Man, United Kingdom, and Alan Sinton of Kennett Square, Pa.; two daughters, Hester A. McMurray of Cookeville, Tenn., formerly of Drexel Hill, Pa., and Gladys I. Richmond of Dover, formerly of Irby, Cheshire, England; and 21 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren in Ireland, Switzerland, Isle of Man, Canada, Arizona, California, Tennessee and Pennsylvania, and a great-great-grandson. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, in the Kuzo & Gofus Funeral Home, State and Meredith streets, Kennett Square, Pa., where friends may call one hour before the service, and from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to Kennett Square Senior Center, 427 South Walnut St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. |
