Alice Greeves Gender: Daughter Date of Birth: 13d 5mo 1767 Place of Birth: Grange Parents: William & Mary Greer Greeves Residence: Grange Description of Father: * Registration Meeting: Grange Meeting, Volume 1, Page 16 Notes: [RFSS Jan 2012] Quaker. "Aunt Alice" of the letters. She and her daughters, "the Sinton girls" are frequently mentioned in the letters, as is William, but Thomas only rarely. [Letters, 9 mo, 1826, p 162: "I suppose thee heard of little Alice's death."] This family is very close to the Berna family with many visits back and forth. There are many references to Aunt Alice and their children in the letters - the "Sinton girls" etc.; the unhappiness at Mary's marriage to Brother John, and the unsatisfactory Joe Midkiff. Oddly there is no mention, except "at Portadown" or "to Partadown" to the brother John, and none at all to Joseph, who probably died before 1818 when the letters start. Thomas Sinton had been a brewer which is odd given the unhappiness caused when Aunt Debby married George Joyce, simply because he was a liquor dealer. |
