Dan died after 1858 when "... (he) is giving up school teaching and is to live with son Thomas".

He was the brother of William O'Brien who married Anne Greeves, Mary's sister. William and Daniel were uncles of Thomas O'Brien, just below, the son of one of the many children of Daniel O'Brien senior's second marriage, half brother of William and Daniel.
