Wilbur G. Sinton (1927-2016), age 88, passed away on 7 April, 2016. Will was born on his Dad's dairy farm south of Colorado Springs. He grew up hunting, fishing, and hiking. He spoke of his excellent teachers at his 2-room rural schoolhouse. Will developed an interest in ham radios, and attended the University of Colorado, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He started working at Mountain Bell Telephone in 1949, on a line-crew in western Colorado. He spent two stints at AT&T Bell Laboratories in New York City and New Jersey, finishing his career 35 years later as the manager of a division of 430 employees at Mountain Bell. Will said he always worked for good people and enjoyed the people that worked for him. Throughout his life, he was an inspiration for his three boys and their families. Will celebrated 60 years of marriage to Anna M. Sinton in 2011. They met at a YWCA dance in Denver in 1950. They raised 3 boys, Robert, Ronald, and Gregory. Will and Ann enjoyed family, dancing, and road trips to explore the country. After retirement, Will returned to part-time ranching, volunteering at Castlewood Canyon State Park, breakfasts with his friends from Mountain Bell days, and pursuing family history and genealogy. His life-long favorite activity was walking, which started very early through his Sunday hikes with his Dad. Will was preceded in death by his wife, Anna M. Sinton, and survived by his three sons Robert, Ronald, Gregory and his granddaughter, Nicole. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday April 15, at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO 80014 with a reception following on the premises. Memorial contributions may be made to Denver Hospice, or a charity of your choice. [Joy H. Jones Sep 2016] |
