Adele l. Sinton, 83, of 220 S. Sixth St., Shamokin, died Friday at Shamokin Area Community Hospital after being hospitalized early Friday morning.

Born in Shamokin, Feb. 1, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Lucille Shuster Engle.

She was a 1934 graduate of Shamokin high school.

She was a cashier at Shamokin High School Cafeteria, and last manager of the cosmetics department at the former Big N department store, Shamokin.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Shamokin, Eighth grade y teen adviser, Girl Scout leader, secretary of the Shamokin Band Boosters and the Parent Teacher Association, McAdoo Sunday School class, secretary of the Shamokin Alumni Association and the Class of '34 and secretary/treasurer for youth Sunday School.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Aaron Walter Sinton, on July 28, 1987.

Surviving are two daughters, Dianne Beskenis, Hampton, Va., and Adele Lorice Torres, at home; a sister, Thelma Arndt, Philadelphia; three grandchildren; neices and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 1 pm Tuesday at the Lark Chapel of St. John's United Church of Christ. The Rev. William Sherman will officiate. Interment will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Farrow Funeral Directors, Shamokin, is in charge of arrngements.
